Inline commenting

What are inline comments?

Inline comments refer to comments that users can add to specific parts of a Confluence page. These comments are attached to a particular section of content, allowing users to provide feedback, ask questions, or collaborate on specific areas of the page.

Do I need to use inline comments?

Using inline comments provides a range of benefits:

  • Clear Communication: Inline comments allow for specific feedback or discussions directly within the context of the content being reviewed, making communication clearer.

  • Collaboration: Team members can easily collaborate, ask questions, and provide feedback on specific sections of a page or document without cluttering the main content.

  • Track Changes: Inline comments help track changes and revisions, providing a record of feedback and discussions for future reference.

  • Contextual Feedback: Comments provide contextual feedback, making it easier to understand the reasoning behind suggested changes.

  • Efficiency: Inline comments streamline the review process by focusing discussions on specific parts of the content, saving time and reducing confusion.

How can I enable inline comments?

With External Share for Confluence, you have two distinct access options to ensure that you can meet your individual needs:

  1. “View comments“ access: Allows users to view existing inline comments.

  2. “Add comments” access: Allows users to add new inline comments and reply to existing ones.
