Redirect Share

Redirect Share

What is a Redirect Share?

Redirect Share is a new type of share available in the External Share for Jira. It is designed for cases where the original external share link has become obsolete or expired.

With Redirect Share, you can guide users to a different, valid URL when the original link is no longer accessible. You can change any existing share to a Redirect Share and revert it back at any time.

How to Use Redirect Share

  1. Create an external share in Jira using the External Share app.

  2. When you need to redirect that share to a new URL:

    • Open the External Share app and select the share link

    • Change the share type to Redirect Share

    • Enter the new target URL

  • They are redirected to the URL you specified

  • All original settings like password protection, expiration, and SSO still apply

When to Use Redirect Share

Redirect Share is useful when:

  • The original shared content should be no longer available or relevant for external party.

  • You want to redirect users to an updated resource or new location
