External Share for Jira – What’s New? · Dec

Filter Rows Behave Like Links 🔗

In filter share, filter view rows now behave like clickable links. Middle-click or Ctrl+click to open them in a new tab, so you can explore shares without losing your place. This small tweak can save you a lot of back-and-forth navigation.

Visual Refresh for Share Link Creation🎨

Share Link Creation view has a fresh design with visual improvements while keeping all existing share creation and clone functionality intact.

What else changed?

  • Combined subcategories in the General tab and moved the “Enable Share” and “Enable Issue Creation” toggles to Link Details → General tab.

Smarter Sharing, Simpler Hierarchies 🔗

Working with issue hierarchies just got simpler:

  • You can now assign existing issues as subtasks to a parent issue through an intuitive picker!

  • Shared issues now support creating new linked issues or subtasks/child issues, depending on permissions.

Better Field Control & Editing

More flexibility for shared issues:

  • We also added support for displaying and editing the resolution field in shared issues.

  • Radio button and URL fields are now fully editable — update selections or links directly.

New Options for Collaboration

  • A new permission allows users to delete any attachment, giving teams greater control over shared content.
    (Configurable in Project Configuration and on each contents' configuration form.)

  • A new comment filter option lets you display only comments created after a selected date. It’s perfect for highlighting recent updates while skipping the noise.

What else changed?

  • Added a security option to limit shared issues, boards, and timelines to the current project only — preventing cross-project data from being displayed.
    Ideal for teams that need tighter project-level data control.

  • Improved how Jira issue links behave in shared views. (Smoother navigation for group shares and clearer error messages when access is restricted.)
