Before start, Install External Share for Jira add-on from Atlassian Marketplace.

Refer to Get External Share for Jira document to install our add-on.

Here are two ways to create an external link:

  1. Select the desired issue, then set the share type (Issue, Board, Filter, Timeline) to generate the link.

  2. Start by choosing the share type on the External Share for Jira app's general page, then create the link.

Let us begin by demonstrating how to generate a link directly from an issue.

Create External link directly from an issue

  1. Within your workspace, click on the issue you wish to share.

  2. Select External Share, then click the Create External Share Link button to generate a link.

  3. A new configuration window will appear. Adjust the settings as needed.

  4. Use the link options to define how the issue will be shared externally.

Once you've created your link and selected the options you require (see Link Options for more details). You can also send the link directly via email.

You can customize the format of your email, decide if you want to share the password, and add a friendly message

Click the External Share button in the left menu to see all links that have been created in Project.

You can create here External Share Filter and External Share Board.

The shared issue displays the issue summary, description, Status, Assignee, Reporter and Components by default. In the Project Settings, you can manage shared fields.

The External User will be able to add comments and attachments or change issues status if those options have been enabled in link options!
